Find your next rental home in Sydhavnen
Sydhavnen is the part of Copenhagen where the city meets the water on almost every side. Postcode 2450 includes both new apartments along the canals and older properties from the days when the neighbourhood was a working-class district, and rental homes in Sydhavnen are rarely far from the waterfront.
The district has changed significantly in a short period of time, and there are major differences between the neighbourhoods. In the overview above, you can see what a rental home in Sydhavnen costs and what is currently available.
Canals, waterfront and a district in transition
Living in Sydhavnen means having the water as your neighbour. Kayaks and small boats are moored between the residential buildings, the promenades are used for walking and running throughout the year, and during the summer the canals become the district's shared backyard.
The neighbourhoods are very different. Sluseholmen was built as a canal district, where bridges connect the apartment blocks and many residents have the water directly below their balconies. Teglholmen is newer and more open, with larger apartments and views across the harbour. Around Mozarts Plads, you will find the old Sydhavn, a quieter part of the district with lower-rise buildings and allotment gardens nearby.
Nature, water and green spaces
Valbyparken is located at the western end of the district and is one of Copenhagen's largest green spaces, with a rose garden, beach and plenty of room for activities. At Sydhavnstippen, nature becomes wilder, and you can go for a walk where it is hard to believe you are still in the capital. With a harbour bath and kayaking routes right outside your door, the water becomes part of everyday life rather than a destination for a day out.
Getting around
Sydhavnen has gained significantly better transport connections in recent years. The metro runs around the clock with several stations in the district, and the S-train provides direct connections both towards the city centre and out of Copenhagen.
Is Sydhavnen right for you?
Sydhavnen is for those who want the water as their neighbour and prefer newer buildings with balconies and lifts. The canals and promenades give the district a character unlike anywhere else in the city. On the other hand, it is still developing. The selection of shops and cafés is not as dense as in Copenhagen's traditional inner districts, and some areas are not yet completely finished.
