Sandkaj is the district's gathering point, with a harbour bath, promenade and cafés along the waterfront, and during the summer people jump straight into the water from the quay. Århusgadekvarteret was the first completed part of the district and now has shops and restaurants at street level. Several of the old silos and warehouses have also been converted into homes, keeping the area's industrial history visible among the new developments.

The harbour bath at Sandkaj is one of the district's main recreational areas, and the waterfront promenade is used for everything from morning runs to evening walks. Konditaget Lüders places a playground and exercise area on top of a car park with views across the entire harbour, and if you continue south along the waterfront, green routes lead all the way towards Kastellet and the rest of the city.
Transport to and from Nordhavn
The district was designed with transport in mind from the beginning. The metro takes you to central Copenhagen in just a few minutes and runs around the clock, while the S-train connects you with both the city centre and the northern suburbs. The cycle routes towards the city follow the waterfront, and there is a direct connection to the airport without complicated transfers.
Is Nordhavn right for you?
Nordhavn is for those who want to live somewhere new, bright and close to the water, and who appreciate having most everyday necessities within walking distance. The homes are modern, and the district is designed around everyday life. On the other hand, it is still a young neighbourhood. It does not yet have the layer of worn pubs and old shops that gives Copenhagen's older districts their patina, and construction is still ongoing in several areas.
