Klitmøller is situated right by the North Sea and next to Thy National Park. The town is part of Cold Hawaii, a destination that draws surfers from around the world. It has approximately 1,200 residents, although the population has grown several times over during the summer months, when Klitmøller is a popular tourist destination.
