Educational institutions including Østerbroskolen are reachable on foot or by bicycle, along with various others nearby such as SOSU, upper secondary schools, CELF, and Absalon University College. The town center additionally provides daycare centers, sports facilities, and a swimming hall. Known as the principal city of Lolland/Falster, Nykøbing F hosts a variety of grocery and specialty stores, a cinema, and a revue theater.

Surrounding nature around Guldborgsund is notably picturesque, celebrated by sailors who consider the journey from Gedser to Guldborg among Denmark's most beautiful. Due to Vendsysselvej's designation as a vulnerable residential area, housing rentals are subject to stricter eligibility requirements. All such enhanced criteria apply not only to the applicant on the waiting list but also to household members moving into the unit if they fall within specified age groups.

Applicants must specify the number of occupants and their ages. To verify identity, copies of passports or alternatively a health card along with a photo ID are required. For household members aged 15 to 64, employment must be permanent, non-temporary, and at least 25 hours per week unless full-time education is documented instead. Work proof includes six months of recent pay slips and an employment contract; new hires must provide the contract and evidence such as degree certificates, prior flex benefits, or former pay slips. Self-employed individuals and consultants must demonstrate CVR registration, previous year's tax return, and projected income. Documentation is also necessary for those in flex jobs as authorized by the municipality.

If household members are enrolled in education instead of employment, the courses must be SU-eligible, competency-based full-time programs lasting at least one year, such as vocational training or apprenticeships. Enrollment confirmations or training contracts must be provided. Criminal records within the last two years for violations of laws concerning criminal offenses, weapons, or drugs disqualify applicants aged 15 and over, with certificates not older than eight days required. Persons on early retirement pensions are ineligible due to receiving public assistance comparable to unemployment or social benefits.

Flexible rental options are available to those meeting certain criteria, allowing prioritized placement ahead of the usual waiting list. These flexible conditions include having a household member engaged in stable work of at least 25 hours per week, attested by contracts and recent pay slips, with employment commencement within two months of taking possession. Publicly subsidized jobs such as flex jobs are considered equivalent when documented by agreements showing a minimum of 25 working hours. Self-employed persons and consultants must present CVR registration and annual turnover.

Additionally, prospective tenants or their partners undergoing SU-eligible full-time education in the municipality are also prioritized when properly documented. Individuals facing family dissolution-through divorce, separation, or breakup-with dependent children and residing in the municipality may receive priority housing for up to one year after such events, with appropriate proof. Moreover, those selling residential property within the municipality can also obtain priority upon submission of a signed sales agreement.

It should be noted that for the initial allocation of these homes, special rules apply, and the waiting list numbers provided by the system may not correspond to actual availability. For instance, the municipality's intended number of units for first-time leasing is currently unknown.
