Birk Campus in Herning represents a vibrant student community designed to fulfill the needs of its residents, offering secure surroundings alongside a dynamic social atmosphere. This housing area consists of modern, high-quality living spaces set amid picturesque landscapes, situated only a short stroll from institutions such as AU-Herning, VIA University College, and the Export School. The nearby train station, just five minutes on foot, provides straightforward connections to Aarhus and various parts of the country.

Convenience permeates everyday life here, with Midtjylland’s largest shopping center and a large grocery store within easy reach. When it’s time to take a break from studies, residents can enjoy the on-site Student House, which features a café, bar, fitness center, and a communal space designed for social events and gatherings.

Residents at Birk Campus are permitted to keep pets, including dogs and cats, while reptiles and terrarium animals are not allowed. Smaller pets such as hamsters and cage birds may be accommodated provided they do not disturb other tenants through noise or odors, in accordance with the community’s rules. The final decision regarding pet ownership is made by majority vote within the department.

The department is characterized by its attractive, white-painted buildings and a lively student house equipped with a café, communal room, and gym, making it an appealing environment for young people. The newest batch of 66 student residences is constructed as passive houses, featuring enhanced insulation and advanced heat recovery systems to drastically reduce energy use—so well insulated that minimal movement can noticeably warm the rooms. The Korsørvej student housing units are also part of Birk Campus, located close to Herning’s city center and just three kilometers from VIA University College and AU-Herning.

Beyond the Student House, the area includes shared laundry facilities, a football field, and a beach volleyball court. Parking spaces are conveniently located near the residences, complemented by multiple bicycle shelters spread throughout the area. Additionally, electric vehicle charging stations have been installed on-site.

Birk Campus offers a variety of housing options, including one- and two-story layouts, featuring terraces or French balconies. Some apartments come equipped with a range hood and stove, while others include two hotplates and a small oven. All units have a combined refrigerator and freezer, with some types offering larger models and others smaller ones. It should be noted that the residences on Korsørvej do not have internet access, whereas in Birk Centerpark, homes are prepared for internet provision by Dansk Kabel TV. The housing units within Birk Campus are also set up for optional subscription to YouSee services. Korsørvej homes come with a basic TV package as standard. None of the apartments include dedicated storage rooms, but those with two floors can use the space beneath the internal staircase for storage.

Regarding additional costs beyond the rent, electricity, water, and heating charges vary within this department. Both YouSee cable TV and fiber internet connections are optional and billed directly by the providers, with the basic TV package requiring individual subscription. Internet service is similarly optional and paid directly by tenants to their chosen provider.

The department consists of a total of 323 student apartments and includes a communal house available for tenant rental. The buildings were constructed over a period stretching from 1993 to 2008 and are located at Birk Centerpark 85–149 and Korsørvej 1–3 in Birk, 7400 Herning.

Apartment sizes are distributed as follows: 81 studios, 176 two-room units, and an additional 66 two-room units in the newest passive house section. Floor plans represent standard rental units, so some variations may exist compared to those shown online or in specific rental offers.

Distances to nearby educational and public facilities are approximately 0.5 kilometers to VIA University College – Campus Herning and AU-Herning (Aarhus University), around 6 kilometers to HTX, HHX, and STX at Herning Vocational Schools and Gymnasiums, half a kilometer from the train station, and about 3.9 kilometers to Herning Central Library.
