Birk Campus offers a vibrant student community in Herning, designed specifically with the needs of students in mind. Situated within walking distance of AU-Herning, VIA University College, and the Export School, this residential area combines modern living spaces with picturesque surroundings. The train station lies just five minutes away on foot, providing straightforward connections to Aarhus and other parts of the country.

Living here means easy access to the largest shopping center in Central Jutland as well as a large grocery store nearby, making daily errands convenient. The campus also features its own "Student House," equipped with a café, bar, gym, and a communal space that hosts social gatherings and events, fostering an active and welcoming environment.

Pets, including dogs and cats, are permitted within the community. However, snakes and terrarium animals are prohibited. Smaller pets like hamsters and cage birds may be allowed provided they do not disturb other residents through noise or odor, according to the community rules. Decisions about pet ownership are determined by majority vote within the residents' association.

The white-painted apartment blocks and the student house with its café, common areas, and fitness facilities contribute to a lively and appealing atmosphere attractive to young people. The newest batch of 66 student residences has been constructed as passive houses, employing enhanced insulation and highly efficient heat recovery systems. These buildings are so well insulated that even minimal activity indoors noticeably raises the temperature.

The department also includes student housing on Korsørvej, located near Herning city center and about 3 kilometers from both VIA University College and AU-Herning. In addition to the Student House, the campus offers shared laundry facilities, a football pitch, and a beach volleyball court. Parking spaces are conveniently situated near the accommodation, and bike sheds are distributed throughout the area. Electric vehicle charging stations are also installed on site.

Various housing styles are available at Birk Campus, with layouts offering either one or two floors, some featuring terraces or French balconies. Certain units come with a cooker hood and stove, while others have two hotplates and a small oven. All residences include a fridge-freezer, with some types providing a larger model and others a smaller one. It should be noted that housing on Korsørvej does not have internet connectivity. Residences at Birk Centerpark are pre-equipped for internet services from Dansk Kabel TV and offer the option to connect to YouSee. Korsørvej properties generally include a basic package. Storage rooms are not included in the housing units; however, two-story apartments may provide storage space under the interior stairs.

Additional expenses beyond rent include payments for electricity, water, and heating, which are handled differently across the department. Cable TV and fiber-based TV and internet services from YouSee are optional and billed directly by the provider. Residents must sign up for the basic cable package if they choose to subscribe.

The department comprises a total of 323 student apartments built between 1993 and 2008. Residents also have access to a communal hall that can be rented for events.
