Vordingborg offers a charming main street filled with interesting shops, a vibrant cultural and music scene, as well as numerous cafes and dining options. The marina known as Nordhavnen is well-equipped for recreational sailors, and the cozy harbor atmosphere is enhanced by the presence of cafes and restaurants. Significant urban development is currently underway in the southern district, including the construction of several new residential buildings and a cultural arcade that houses the town's modern library. Additional vibrancy is brought to the area by the southern marina, Sydhavnen, and a recently established business zone. The town's prime swimming beach, located at Ore, stretches over several kilometers and ranks as the best in the area. Adjacent to the beach, a campsite serves as a convenient base for exploring the surrounding natural landscapes, which include extensive forests near the Rosenfeldt estate. Vordingborg hosts a variety of engaging activities throughout the year. In August, Danmarks Borgcenter organizes castle days featuring knight tournaments, traditional craft demonstrations, and various exhibitions. The regional theater company, Cantabile 2, produces the Waves Festival, a comprehensive theatrical event with drama, dance, and performances staged at multiple locations throughout the town. Furthermore, Vordingborg annually attracts around 6,000 children aged 6 to 14 to Denmark's largest children's festival, Vilde Vulkaner, which combines play and music, primarily targeting school-aged children attending after-school programs.
