Department 51 comprises attractive family residences in Aabybro and a variety of associated housing types across the area. Some homes were built in 1982 and feature bathrooms with underfloor heating, a neat built-in wardrobe arrangement, a curved glass door to the shower cubicle and tiled floors including the shower. The kitchen, positioned open to the living room, retains its original painted doors. The youth housing at Bindeleddet from 1994 has bathrooms and kitchens finished with white tiles and white laminate kitchen surfaces. Water consumption is included in the rent; heating and electricity are invoiced directly by the utility company.

The department includes several distinct addresses and building types. In the town centre the multi-storey Torvestræde building contains family apartments and wheelchair-friendly units with an elevator and homes without door thresholds; pleasant green spaces with picnic bench sets surround these homes. The Østergade block, an apartment building from 1992, is arranged as youth housing. The department also comprises 12 row houses serving as elderly housing that were built in 1979 and renovated in 2001. There are shared bicycle sheds at Østergade and Torvestræde. At a greater distance from the centre are four clusters of single-storey red-brick row houses: Løvsangervej (built 1979) and Sneppevej (1988) adjoin each other, while Revlingestien (1985) and Perikumvej (2002) are likewise side by side. Each of these locations offers pleasant communal areas with picnic bench sets and playful playgrounds equipped with zip lines; the housing here is primarily family homes with a small number of youth dwellings. A limited number of carports belonging to Løvsangervej and Revlingestien can be rented when available, and Perikumvej and Revlingestien are connected to the town centre, schools and institutions by a safe pedestrian and cycle path network.

On Enebærvej the red-brick homes were built in 1990 as row houses in one or two storeys, and in addition there are 12 dwellings on Enebærvej constructed as passive houses-highly insulated, climate-friendly homes with minimal energy and heat consumption. These homes sit in the eastern part of Aabybro in a residential neighbourhood characterised by abundant green spaces and a secure path network to the town centre, schools and institutions; the area also includes an interesting playground with a zip line sturdy enough to carry adults and picnic bench sets throughout the estate. The streets Bindeleddet, Hjorthsvej, Tegleværksvej, Sundbyvej, Stationsvej, Vadumvej, Anlægsvej, Vadumvej and Kildevangen consist of low-rise, dense housing of various sizes located in Aabybro and in the smaller villages Birkelse, Biersted, Nørhalne and Gjøl. All the bright family and elderly dwellings have beech parquet floors, while most youth flats have linoleum and some have laminate floors; fixed cupboards are fitted in the bedrooms and in the entrance areas throughout.

In the local area near Birkelse there is convenient access to shops, a primary school, a sports hall and a bus stop with connections including Aalborg University. The homes on Bindeleddet are virtually adjacent to the sports field, and close to the elderly homes on Hjorthsvej are Birkelse Plejecenter and Hjorts Hus, a meeting place hosting a range of activities for older residents. The distance to Aabybro is 3.5 kilometres and to Aalborg approximately 20 kilometres. A physical masterplan for the housing area has been approved and may entail changes to the rent and, in some cases, temporary rehousing after moving in. The physical works will start in mid-2027 and are expected to be completed in 2030, where a rent increase of 10-12% should be anticipated upon completion of the masterplan. Further details are available in the document "Helhedsplan - Beboerinformation," which can be found in the Documents box, or by contacting Servicecenter BoligNord at sc.bolignord@udlejer.

Flexible letting allows applicants to move ahead in the queue if they meet one or more of the flexible criteria, enabling faster access to housing than the standard waiting list. Twenty-five percent of the family and youth dwellings are allocated according to flexible criteria. These criteria include commuters employed in Jammerbugt Kommune, which must be documented by a copy of the employment contract; residents of Jammerbugt Kommune aged over 50 who are seeking a more suitable home; and parents with visitation rights to children living in Jammerbugt Kommune.
