The housing units at Fårupled/Fårupkollegiet consist of student apartments featuring kitchens built with wood veneer cabinetry. Some kitchens have been gradually updated to white cabinets and include essential appliances such as a stove, range hood, and a refrigerator with an integrated freezer compartment. By 2016, the refrigerators in the two-room units will be replaced with models without freezer compartments. Bathrooms are designed efficiently with vinyl flooring and walls, and a window ensures proper ventilation. Each apartment also benefits from an outdoor storage room.

The two dormitory complexes are comprised of single-story row houses. Fårupkollegiet, constructed of red brick in 1996 and 2000, is situated in the southern part of Jelling, while Højagerkollegiet, established in 1984, is located in the western area of the town. Both sites offer communal facilities, including a common room available to tenants at very affordable rates, as well as shared laundry rooms. The outdoor spaces are cozy and frequently host various activities, such as grill sessions, campfires, or beach volleyball tournaments on the designated court found at Højagerkollegiet. A strong social network is fostered at both dormitories, maintained in part through social media platforms. An agreement with Jelling Radio & TV allows tenants to rent a modem for internet connection for a small fee. Although these residences are not specifically adapted for wheelchair users, solutions can be arranged.

Pets are not permitted in the one-room apartments.

Regarding location and surroundings, both dorms are conveniently situated near University College Lillebælt. Public transport options such as buses and trains provide straightforward travel to Vejle. The town of Jelling itself offers a variety of cafés, specialty shops, and cultural venues like Byens Hus, featuring music events, a cinema, and a library. Nearby attractions include Fårup Lake, a golf course, and lovely green spaces that enhance the living environment.
